Just as I was thinking I was in really bad shape, I had one of those breakthrough workouts today where everything felt good. Maybe its just me but I think running workouts require more of a warmup to get the most out of. My motto til the bar exam is "Consistency Before Intensity". After that I should be able to ratchet up the level of workout. Respect.

Workout today was 3 x 400M sprints where the rest in between each lap is exactly equal to the time of the previous sprint. Times were:

!!!!!!! Pretty good for me.
I think you've got the right idea. If you work out consistently, you'll still have good days and not-so-good days...but as each day passes, you'll have yet one more workout under your belt. As the weeks go by, the workouts add up, and results cannot help but happen. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI might try your workout today. I can't use the Katy Jr High track during the day, but I'm used to doing sprints at the soccer field with my wristwatch timer. I can set it for my usual 400m time, and sprint until it goes off, so I'll be pretty close to actually running 400m. I'll either do your workout, or I might do some shorter windsprints...lacrosse season is here, so I need to prepare!
Thanks for the encouragement. Tomorrow I will post the workout I am following til the end of February.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I keep forgetting that my friend Larry is always logged on to my computer here at the school. Here's my comment:
ReplyDeleteI warmed up with some lacrosse drills, then moved on to sprints:
Sprint 35 yards to the line, touch, sprint back to start, then rest 30 seconds.
Total of 10 sets.
I'm feeling groovy! Tomorrow, I'll do a more strength-oriented workout.
John, I don't see your workout on here yet. I mean, you ARE working out like a beast today, right?
I ran two miles yesterday but nothing today. I only have a monday, wednesday, friday routine right now. I'm still trying to decide what my tuesday, thursday, saturday routine will be.
