Past My Prime


After playing basketball last night I had one of those revelations that I can no longer perform as I once could. The will to take over the game and dominate the person I was guarding was in me...but the ability only lasted for 2-3 plays at a time and then I needed oxygen. Next season I want to be able to do 2 things: Touch the rim & run around like a mad man for the entire game. I think these are legitimately possible. Just look at the intensity of these midgets if you doubt me.

  2. One of my favorite trainers is Ross Enamait. He runs www.rosstraining.com and his site and books introduced me to bodyweight training, HIIT, explosive, functional exercise, and that sort of thing. He also writes a blog that is both informative and inspiring, filled with stories of 'older' folks who are kicking some serious butt. As 40 looms, I've managed to actually increase my strength and speed in some areas, rather than succumb to the 'inevitable' decline that seems to cripple most guys my age. I still play lacrosse, and I'm still one of the guys with 'wheels' because I've never stopped believing and never stopped training. Keep your mind right, do the work, and you'll be a beast on the court, man.
